IV. Other precautions for use
This medication should not be used long-term. Discontinue use once bowel movements return to normal. Improve constipation by consuming a high-fiber diet, drinking plenty of water, and exercising. Diarrhea may occur during the use of this medication. Long-term use can cause electrolyte imbalance and dehydration. Senna-type laxatives can cause acidic urine to turn yellow or brown, and alkaline urine to turn pink or purplish-red; they can also darken the colonic mucosa. V. Stimulant laxatives do not inhibit calorie absorption and therefore do not help with weight loss. These medications can cause watery diarrhea, abdominal pain, and dehydration, leading to short-term weight loss. Severe dehydration can cause tremors, weakness, blurred vision, fainting, kidney damage, and even death, often requiring medication.
VI. Overuse of stimulant laxatives may lead to electrolyte imbalance. Sodium, potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus are specific electrolytes required to maintain neuromuscular function. Disruption of this balance may cause abnormalities in large intestine and heart function. To avoid the above risks, excessive or incorrect use of laxatives should be avoided.
