- Taking Orlistat with meals or in a diet high in fat may increase gastrointestinal discomfort. When taking it, adhere to a low-calorie, low-fat diet.
- Orlistat treatment may reduce the absorption of certain fat-soluble vitamins. Therefore, it is recommended that you take a multivitamin containing vitamins A, D, E, and K before bed each day.
- A very small number of cases of hepatitis have been reported since Orlistat 60mg capsules were marketed. The link between Orlistat use and hepatitis has not been established. If weakness, fatigue, fever, yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice), or brown urine occurs while taking Orlistat, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor.
Rectal bleeding has occurred during Orlistat treatment; please consult your doctor if it occurs. Additional contraception is recommended to avoid severe diarrhea that could reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Diet and exercise are important parts of a weight management plan. It is recommended to assess and understand your diet and exercise regimen before starting Orlistat 60mg capsules. When starting Orlistat 60mg capsules, please follow a nutritionally balanced, slightly reduced-calorie diet, ensuring that fat accounts for no more than 30% of your total calories (e.g., 2000 calories per day is equivalent to less than 67 grams of fat). Diet, carbohydrates, and protein intake should be evenly distributed across three meals. After discontinuing Orlistat 60mg capsules, continue to control your diet and maintain exercise. Do not take this medication if you have not eaten a meal or if your diet does not contain fat. This weight management course should not exceed six months.
