Founded nearly 90 years ago, Chung Mei Pharmaceutical Group has once again stood out for its long-standing commitment to public welfare. Having already received the dual honors of “Chinese Philanthropy Ambassador” and “Integrity Brand Golden Legacy Award” in 2021, the group was awarded the 8th “Chinese Philanthropic Enterprise Golden Legacy Award” in 2025, making it the only pharmaceutical company in Taiwan to have received all three honors. This award selects only one representative enterprise from each industry every year under strict judging criteria, and is regarded as the highest honor in philanthropy among Chinese-speaking business communities.
Lin Yi-lin (林宜琳), Brand Director of Chung Mei Pharmaceutical Group, represented the company at the awards ceremony and accepted the honor on stage. In her acceptance remarks, she said: “This honor comes from more than eighty years of belief and action accumulated across four generations at Chung Mei. We have always been doing this work — whether in rural education, social care, healthcare, disaster relief, arts and culture, or sustainability and environmental initiatives — and the scope and intensity of our involvement have grown year after year.” Following the flooding in Hualien in September, Chung Mei worked together with the Tzu Chi Foundation to assemble over a thousand “health care packs,” containing basic medical supplies such as pain relievers, wound care items, and cold medicine. Within 36 hours, employees and Tzu Chi volunteers worked in relay to assemble and rush the packs to the disaster area in Hualien. Lin said: “I began taking part in domestic and international disaster relief ten years ago. This time, besides going to the site myself as a ‘shovel hero’ to help clear mud, I also encouraged several second-generation business friends to donate equipment and machinery, which were delivered to the disaster area right away so volunteers could help residents clean up their homes. The power and contagion of goodness is truly remarkable — it’s the warmest force in the human world, and I felt that deeply.” Beyond this, on October 30, Chung Mei Pharmaceutical Group once again worked with Tzu Chi volunteers to assemble 1,450 health care packs, continuing to support disadvantaged groups, elderly people living alone, and international disaster relief efforts domestically. Every action taken by Chung Mei is aimed at carrying health and love further. Lin said: “We’re grateful for the judging panel’s recognition — it’s the best affirmation of Chung Mei’s philosophy of ‘love as medicine, action as the way.'”
Lin Yi-lin, Brand Director of Chung Mei Pharmaceutical Group, also emphasized: “This honor is not an endpoint, but the starting point of our next philanthropic journey.” She said Chung Mei has always upheld the values of “never forgetting where we came from,” “gratitude,” and “the spirit of great compassion (大愛),” and continues to invest in various public welfare initiatives. Next year, Chung Mei will celebrate its 90th anniversary. The team is actively planning a “corporate co-good” project that will connect distribution channels and pharmaceutical professionals to advance the Health Equity Program, using the spirit of “goodness as intention” to inspire more quality enterprises to jointly create and share the “value of goodness.”
The organizer of the “Chinese Philanthropic Enterprise Golden Legacy Award,” the Chinese Industrial and Commercial Economic and Trade Technology Development Association, noted that this year marks the 8th edition of the Chinese Philanthropy Festival. Former Legislative Yuan President Wang Jin-pyng (王金平) was specially invited to attend the awards ceremony, making the event particularly grand. The organizer stated that Chung Mei Pharmaceutical Group’s philanthropic work demonstrates a high level of execution and sustainability thinking — combining its core business strengths to advance health equity while also showing how a company can link pharmaceuticals, education, environmental protection, and social care into a complete philanthropic chain. In particular, during the Hualien flooding, Chung Mei Pharmaceutical Group not only quickly donated “health care packs” to provide immediate health support to disaster victims, but also took part directly in home reconstruction efforts. This unwavering belief that “wherever there is need, Chung Mei will be there” was deeply moving, and stands as a model case for the pharmaceutical industry.
Since its founding in 1936, Chung Mei Pharmaceutical Group has now passed down through four generations.
